What does it take to be a Marketo Champion? Well, every year Marketo selects a whole a bunch of cool people from all over the world who have exemplified awesome leadership qualities in the Marketo community.
This past year, since naming the members of our Winter 2017 Class, we’ve been in close touch with one of the members in Melbourne, Kara Pietrykowski.
Kara’s in a whole league of her own because she’s the only Marketo Champion in the whole APAC region! Congrats Kara!
Since Hoosh is the only Gold Partner in APAC in Australia, our Marketing Senior Automation Consultant, Bruna Diehl, was lucky enough to meet Kara in Melbourne, a Marketo superstar. As you can see based on their photo, they had a blast chatting and sharing their Marketo experiences.

What’s Your Work Experience?
My experience lies within B2B marketing, with expertise in Digital, Content, Product and Channel Marketing, as well as Event strategy and Marketing Automation.
In terms of Marketing Automation with Marketo, the roles I have had include being the marketing lead on implementation of Marketo alongside Salesforce, defining scoring models, planning customer journey including lead qualification statuses, lead generation campaigns, customer retention, nurture and up-sell campaigns, creating actionable reporting on campaigns and enabling data-driven marketing decisions to be made.
How Did You Become a Marketo Champion?
My submission was based on my expertise and my participation in the community. The Marketo community site allows users to provide product ideas and product discussion points and feedback to help other users and give feature ideas and feedback to Marketo. My submission outlined the areas of activity and engagement I’ve done.
How Do You Feel About Being The Only Marketo Champion in APAC?
It’s a big responsibility and honour that my contribution has been recognized. It’s a good opportunity to be able to have my marketing skills represented. The best thing is the access to preview upcoming product features and being able to give exclusive feedback. To be able to understand what’s coming up is a great benefit and also feel I have the opportunity to share my opinion on being on the ground in Australia/APAC.
What Tips Do You Have For New Marketo and Existing Users?
The main thing is to utilize the community, there’s a wealth of knowledge in there in term of the discussions and products. It’s very likely, that people have encountered the question you already have and the Marketo Champions are constantly sharing their experiences so you learn how others are using the product
The other thing is also putting out your voice/experiences to contribute to the idea section. Contributing new ideas and ways that a feature could be improved or a feature could be added to improve marketing campaigns and then have other people vote on them allows the product management team in Marketo to prioritise and bring good ideas into the product, as soon as possible.
What Do You Think The Future of Marketing Automation Will Be?
Bright! Marketing Automation products continue to evolve and more tools are entering the market place so there is no room for the current market leaders to be complacent. Also having numerous tools in the market means there are products available to suit different industries and company sizes.
